Cruise protocols are changing fast. Here’s the latest information we have.
In this episode we take a look at the recent announcements about major cruise lines changing their health and safety cruise protocols. We’ll be talking about cruise protocol updates from around the industry. We’ve included a brief summary from Carnival, Royal Caribbean and MSC Cruises below. For more information please check out the the associated links included in the summaries.
Carnival Cruise Line
Carnival Cruise Line is pleased to announce that we are adjusting certain protocols to reflect the lifting of CDC requirements for the U.S. cruise industry. We remain, as always, committed to the health and safety of our guests, crew and the communities we serve. These changes will be made in phases, with the first of these updates effective on Thursday, August 4, 2022 and focused on short cruise itineraries of 5 nights or less.
Guests should continue to carefully review all pre-cruise communications and refer to the Have Fun. Be Safe. page on Carnival.com for more information
Royal Caribbean
Royal Caribbean is currently developing updated protocols that provide for the continued safety of our guests, crew, and the communities we visit, better align with the travel and hospitality sector, and meet destination regulations. This means we’re transitioning to the point where everyone will be able to vacation with us.
Starting with August 8, 2022 departures, our protocols will include:
- Requiring testing for unvaccinated guests on all sailings, and for vaccinated guests on sailings that are six nights or longer.
- Maintaining a high percentage of fully vaccinated guests onboard all our sailings, far above the general population.
- All crew will continue to be fully vaccinated and boosted when eligible, and tested regularly.
Details on the above protocols, as well as any other guidelines for your vacation, will be provided to booked guests the week of August 1, 2022. Current protocols remain in place for any cruises departing before August 8. See current protocols.
MSC Cruises
MSC Cruises, the world’s third largest and fastest-growing cruise brand, is updating its health and safety protocols for sailings from U.S. ports in response to the CDC’s lifting of requirements for the cruise industry. MSC Cruises’ top priority remains to protect the health and safety of its guests, crew and the communities the Company’s ships visit.
The updated policy will go into effect for cruises embarking from U.S. ports beginning August 8, 2022, pending destination requirements. MSC Cruises will continue to monitor pandemic conditions and port requirements outside of the U.S., with a goal to relax testing and vaccination protocols to open cruising to all guests, while prioritizing the health and safety of its guests, crew and destinations.
Guests should refer to the website for the latest health and safety requirements at: USA Health and Safety Measures.
