Here’s what you need to know about Carnival cruises before you book
If you’ve been considering a Carnival Cruise, but can’t make up your mind, this article is for you! We are going to look at seven reasons you might pick Carnival Cruise Line as your cruise line. This is the first in a series of articles to help you pick the right cruise line for you and your traveling companions. Today we are going to talk all about Carnival Cruise line, and we hope that this will help you to make a decision about whether or not Carnival Cruise line is right for you.
We’ve been cruising on Carnival quite a bit this year, and thought it would be interesting to get our viewers thoughts on exactly why they choose Carnival Cruise line. We’ve pulled some of their best responses, and share them in this article.
So how did we put this list together? Well, we went to our cruising community and we asked them one simple question.

Amazing price and value
First and foremost – our community says that Carnival Cruise Line offers amazing price and value. When you choose a Carnival cruise you are getting more “bang for your buck”. That might mean that you get to cruise more often. Making cruising more affordable is a big deal for a lot of Carnival cruisers. They say because of the incredible value, they cruise more and more and really stretch their vacation dollars. Carnival also offers some really cool free dining concepts like Guy’s Burgers and Blue Iguana Cantina, which are unique to the line. People love it and it keeps them coming back.
Fun for the whole family
Carnival Cruise Line appeals to families with kids of all ages.
There’s so much for families to do. Whether it’s water slides, sports activities, or even The Bolt roller coaster on Mardi Gras, there is just so much fun to be had. There’s something for every family on Carnival, and much of it is available at no extra charge.
Homeport advantage
Ever heard of the homeport advantage? Carnival Cruise Line has set up their ship operations here in the United States such that they have more cruise ships going out of more ports on the coast of the United States than any other cruise line. What does that mean for you?
That means that no matter where you live in the United States, chances are you’re going to be closer to a Carnival cruise port than some other cruise line’s. That doesn’t necessarily mean you can drive to port, but the odds are better. Your chances of being able to drive to port are greater simply because they have more home ports in more states and cities, which is a huge advantage. Lots of Carnival cruisers say they cruise more often because they can drive, or take a short flight to their port, and no other cruise lines depart from those smaller cities.
The Fun Squad
Up next is something that we personally love about Carnival Cruise Line. The entertainment with the “Fun Squad”. The Fun Squad and the cruise director staff on Carnival are really unmatched. They bring you live entertainment, comedy, trivia, incredible stage shows and lots of opportunities for non-judgy participation. It’s fun and games on any given day on Carnival ships. That’s what Carnival is all about, and it comes back to that fun squad, bringing the “Carnival Energy” you just can’t find on other lines. Some people tell us that the Fun Squad and the cruise director start to feel like family over the course of the cruise. Carnival just really brings the fun.
One of my coworkers who just went on Carnival said, “I got out there and did line dancing at the sailaway party, and I never thought that I would do that. I never thought that I would go out there and do a line dance, but the fun squad got me so excited”!
It’s Carnival, they’re gonna “get you going”, and there’s always something going on.
Friendly service
One of my favorite things about Carnival is service, and that’s our number five reason that you might want to cruise Carnival. I’ll be honest… for a value cruise line, I don’t know how carnival cruise line maintains such high levels of service. Our community says things like “when you cruise with Carnival, everyone knows your name and they call you by name.” Our community member Scott said, “when I cruise with Carnival, I feel like family, it’s pretty incredible.” Their emphasis on service really shines through, and people who like that kind of service really appreciate Carnival.
Come as you are
Another reason you might want to consider Carnival is that Carnival offers a casual atmosphere, and an unpretentious vibe. That means that when you cruise with Carnival, you’re getting a relaxed cruise experience. In other words, formal night doesn’t have to be super formal. If you’re not into it, you can even skip formal night and go to the buffet. For some, this atmosphere really puts them at ease, and they feel more like they are on vacation. You could wear t-shirts and shorts the whole time, be totally comfortable, and fit right in.
Bringing on the fun!
Lastly, Carnival truly brings the fun. They call them the fun ships for a reason. There’s so much going on at any given time. There’s always music playing everywhere. It’s a lively environment. People are making friends, and having a good time. That’s what makes Carnival special for some people.
