Backstage with Travel Agent Wendy Montebello

Today we are talking with travel agent Wendy Montebello. We are going to take you backstage and discuss the key role of travel agents, and how to get the most out of your cruise booking experience.

Here’s a list of some of the questions we’ll be asking Wendy

  1. What is the key role of a travel advisor? What do you do for your clients?
  2. Should a first-time cruiser book with a TA?
  3. What question can someone ask a travel agent when getting to know them and making sure they are the right fit?
  4. Do you charge for your services, and how do you make your money?
  5. How do you help your clients select the right travel insurance?
  6. What are some things cruisers need to be aware of right now when booking a cruise?
  7. Does it bother you when someone asks a lot of questions?
  8. Are changes easily made when requested?
  9. Do cruisers give up control when they book with a TA?
  10. If you’ve already booked a cruise through the cruise line, can you switch it to a travel agent?
  11. Are points with the cruise lines accumulated when using a travel agent?
  12. What’s the difference between a PVP (who works for the cruise line) and a travel agent? What can/can’t a PVP do?

Sheri is entertaining and super professional. When I have reached out for specific recommendations for ports she has responded with specific options that work for our family that are kid friendly. Getting first hand recommendations is much better than reading online reviews and much appreciated. Thanks for always taking the high road and sharing the “facts” with us. Keep sharing your family cruise reports, I love to hear about your adventures.

I am new to cruising and have been doing ALL the research for our Norway Cruise on Holland America in August 2023 for a big celebration! I have absolutely LOVED this podcast and have learned so much! Sheri is so upbeat and positive and Mr. Cruise tips tv is very entertaining. When I heard this episode I found we had some things in common. My son's birthday is October 31st too! He just turned 21. And...we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary in June 2023 plus my husband turns 50 that same month! I am so excited to try some of the ideas you mentioned and hoping we have an amazing time! Thank you both for all of the great information. I'm still listening to older podcasts and it is all GREAT!
