Without fail, embarkation day is by far the most chaotic time in the cruise ship buffet style restaurant. When possible skip the buffet, and avoid the stampede.  Head to the dining room instead. Not every line opens its dining room for lunch on embarkation day, but it is certainly a better option if available.
