Now for our top 6 favorite food, fun, and finds onboard!
There’s a hidden gem that people sometimes miss on Escape, Food Republic! They have a diverse menu, and amazing craft cocktails, and your drink package works here too. You order from a touch screen, and your server will explain everything to you and make recommendations. What we love about Food Republic is that usually, there are way fewer crowds and it’s easy to walk in without a reservation. The food was so good that we came back for lunch on a sea day. Save some room for dessert too.
The Thermal Suite
I love getting spa treatments on a cruise, but sometimes, the thermal suite pass is more my jam because I can enjoy it all week. This thermal suite and spa area is amazing. You’ll find the traditional stuff- saunas, thermal loungers, a steam room…all nice. But, the jaw-dropper for me was that this thermal suite has a salt room, a snow room, AND 270-degree views from the bow. That’s the same view the captain has. I love this place- it reminds me that I’m at sea, and makes me feel a million miles from my ordinary life. You’ll want to Head to the spa on day 1 to ask about getting a pass for your cruise.
Sugarcane Mojito Bar
One thing you would expect to see on a cruise ship is a bar where you can get your favorite cocktail at any point during the day. But, how about a bar that’s dedicated to MOJITOS? Located in the center of the action on Deck 8, Sugarcane mojito bar gets busy, and for good reason. I like the spicy stuff, so my favorites here are the jalapeno cucumber mojito and the spicy passion concoction. They’ll make virgin mojitos here too, just ask).
OMG, when we first walked into the arcade on this ship, we were shocked. It has seemingly everything. Skeeball (yah, I know, I love it!), air hockey, and just about every video game imaginable. Even a Star Wars game!
There’s no shortage of family-friendly eats on Escape, but arguably the BEST is the Teppanyaki restaurant. Make sure you make a reservation as far in advance as you can because Teppanyaki always sells out! Here’s a tip if you plan to dine here- let your kids scope out the menu in advance because once the fun starts, they might be too distracted to decide! We love this place, and our favorites are the fried rice and the fruit sashimi for dessert.
The Ropes Course
When I heard you could “walk the plank” on Norwegian Escape, I was a little nervous. Turns out, being 19 decks above the sea on this multi-level ropes course that extends out over the ship is quite a rush! The ropes course might just be our favorite activity on the ship. So much so that we did it three times on our 5-day cruise. Be sure to pack close-toed shoes, and check out the ropes course rules – you’ll wanna show up with nothing in your pockets, for safety reasons.
