We are in Hong Kong for this Diamond Princess Asia cruise vlog
Today we are visiting Hong Kong on our Diamond Princess Asia Cruise vlog series. After a smooth debarkation, we are off to meet Wouter, our guide for our visit to Hong Kong (BTW – I mispronounced his name in the intro, apologies). We booked today’s excursion using ShipMate App, and it was a very smooth and reasonably priced shore day for us. After quick introductions, we are on a bus bound for Nan Lian Garden and Chi Lin Nunnery. It is a beautiful place complete with permanent exhibitions of Chinese timber architecture, rocks and potted plants, bonsai, and even a vegetarian dim sum restaurant hidden behind a waterfall. We finish off our time at the garden with a stop at the main hall of the Chi Lin Nunnery.
Filming is not allowed inside the temple, so we have no footage for this cruise vlog. If you visit Hong Kong we highly recommend Nan Lian Garden and Chi Lin Nunnery. It is free to enter, and so tranquil and lush. Next we hop on another bus, and head to the Avenue of Comic Stars and Kowloon Park. The Avenue of Comic Stars is essentially a line of statues of characters from Hong Kong comics ranging from the 1960’s to the 2010’s. It was a fun stop for us, and if you have children, or just love comics, it’s a great place to visit. Kowloon Park is just steps away and is lovely. We took a nice stroll through the park on our way to the waterfront. We hung out at the waterfront long enough to take a few photos, and then we boarded the Star Ferry.
We had fun walking around and shopping the markets in a place our guide referred to as “Toy Street” We capped off our time with Wouter by visiting a restaurant called Cuisine Royale in the Hopewell Centre area. At Cuisine Royale we enjoyed dim sum that was unsurprisingly authentic. As a final treat we took the glass elevator in the Hopewell building up as far as we could for some amazing views of Hong Kong (perhaps the best views in Hong Kong). Our day went fast, but we still had some fun surprises left. Sail away from Hong Kong was serenely beautiful, and our Italian dinner was outstanding. This day will go on the books as yet another unforgettable adventure on our Princess Cruises voyage to Asia.
